Moving boxes and bins are very sturdy when packed well, but can easily break otherwise. When packing, make sure of the following:

  • The heaviest items are at the bottom of the box
  • The box is completely full, especially in the corners. This includes the top of the box, as the last few inches are sometimes difficult to fill and might require the use of packing paper
  • Do not pack very small items in big boxes, they might get lost
  • A general rule of thumb is that if the contents make sounds from touching each other, they can break

Do not pack your most important documents and. Keep them with you to make sure you have access to them at all times. This goes for ID’s, passports, birth certificates, jewelry, etc., as well as the most beloved toys of your children.
